Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. announces the release of a new family of Latched Sink Drivers with DMOS outputs designed for multi-purpose switching applications. The A6259KA to A6259KLW; the A6273KA to A6273KLW, and the A6595KA to A6595KLW series feature low drain to source on resistance to minimize power dissipation, and include copper lead frames for enhanced thermal performance. Products are ideally suitable for applications such as driving LED displays, relays and solenoids for sign and industrial controls.
Each series has its own input protocol including a 3-bit binary, parallel and serial input for the A6259, A6273 and A6595 respectively. The CMOS inputs allow direct interfacing with microprocessor-based systems. The A6259 combines a 3-to-8 line CMOS decoder and accompanying data latches and control circuits. The A6273 series combines eight positive edge triggered D-type data latches with an input for each of the DMOS outputs. The A6595 series combines an 8-bit shift register and data latches.
All three series have two possible DMOS outputs including a 5 ohm and 1.3 ohm with 150 mA and 250mA capability respectively. Two of the series, A6259 and A6595, are available with DMOS outputs rated at 1 ohm and 350 mA. All versions have outputs rated at 50V.
The devices can operate over the temperature range of -40ºC to +125ºC. Package options include a through-hole DIP or an SOIC, ideal for high-density designs. The combination of copper lead frames, low logic-power dissipation and DMOS outputs allow these devices to operate all outputs simultaneously at full rated current of 85ºC.
