Solid-State Circuit Breakers (SSCBs)

Solid state circuit breakers (SSCBs) are high speed, controller managed DC switches that are emerging as a crucial protective technology for high density 800 VDC data center power architectures. By using Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) switches instead of traditional mechanical contacts, SSCBs can interrupt fault currents in sub millisecond timeframes without generating dangerous arcs. Coreless field current sensors and highly integrated isolated gate drivers safely control and protect these high voltage switches.
