Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. Introduces New Dual-Phase DCM Interleaved PFC Controller IC
Designed for Active Power Factor Correction Circuits
Worcester, MA – Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. announces a new dual-phase DCM interleaved PFC controller IC targeted at the telecom, server, home appliance and industrial markets. Allegro’s SSC2101S is designed specifically for active power factor correction (PFC) converters. When compared to other solutions on the market today Allegro’s new device provides higher efficiency and less EMI noise than comparable devices.
Two boost regulators operating 180° out of phase in Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) enables all switching to be done at zero current. Zero current switching improves efficiency and reduces switching noise and stress on components over a wide range of input voltage and output loadings. The pin count has been minimized (8-pin package) without sacrificing important features such as feedback open loop detection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and fast load response. Allegro’s SSC2101S enables users to realize high reliability power supply systems with fewer external components.
