As a world leader in magnetic sensor integrated circuits, Allegro continues to develop advanced magnetic sensing technologies to enable the next generation of ICs to meet the application requirements of today and tomorrow.
Allegro’s new cutting-edge tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) effect technology combined with the company’s vertical Hall technology (VHT), offers designers heterogeneous redundant sensor solutions with industry-leading resolution and accuracy for advanced levels of automation and safety in the automotive and robotics industries.
Designed for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and applications, the innovative TMR technology provides up to eight times greater sensitivity than GMR equivalents, and measured against traditional Hall-effect sensors, the improvement in resolution is even more pronounced.
As an essential step toward enabling the reliability required for safety-critical systems, Allegro’s TMR + VHT integrated sensors are ASIL-D compliant and enable safety checks, including low-field and missing-magnet detection. This unique configuration enables the high levels of safety and diagnostic coverage needed for precise motor control in advanced steering and braking systems, including on-chip channel-to-channel angle comparison and independent processing in digital signal paths, with no shared digital resources.
Allegro’s groundbreaking TMR-based solutions are developed in close collaboration with key market-leading customers and are redefining the future of sensing technologies for safety-critical systems and the autonomous vehicles of tomorrow.
